How to Rip & Transcode DVD to Play on iPad Pro

It’s great to watch movies on iPad Pro’s expansive 12.9’’ screen with 2732 * 2048 display resolution which is higher than 15-inch Macbook Pro’s and second highest after the 5K iMac. Also, since the screen of iPad Pro is big enough, Apple outfits iPad Pro with four high-fidelity speakers that will create a more immersive sound environment while watching movies.

The native media player app of iPad Pro supports H.264, MPEG-4, and Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) video codecs. If you have movies on physical DVD discs and want to play them on your iPad Pro, here I will show you how to rip DVD and transcode the MPEG-2 DVD video to iPad-Pro-supporting video. (iPhone users can visit DVD0101.Com to find out how to play DVD on iPhone 6s / 6s Plus, 6 / 6 Plus, etc.).

Step 1: Download and install Tipard DVD Ripper.

Step 2: Click on the Load Disc button, then select the Video_TS folder under your DVD drive and click OK, then the ripper will start reading and importing your DVD title(s).

Step 3: Go to the Profile pull-down menu and set the output container format to H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Video (*.mp4). If necessary, click on the Settings button and customize the resulting MP4 video’s quality and file size by adjusting the output parameters like Codec, Bitrate, Frame rate, Resolution, etc.

Step 4: Tell the ripper where to save the resulting MP4 file by clicking the Browse button, and then click on the Convert button.

Step 5: Find the resulting MP4 video file and transfer it to your iPad Pro through iTunes.
That’s it.
